Say ‘Hi’ to 81 SeiHai!

I don’t keep it a secret that I love food, and it’s something that I’m comfortable with. In fact, it’s that insatiable quest for edible delights that lead me to rather unexpected places at the right time. And when a co-blogger of mine sent over an invite to the press launch of this upcoming restaurant not too far from my place,I thought, ‘why not?’

That’s how I was led to 81 SeiHai Sushi Lounge.

Located along the Timog Ave. stretch, 81 SeiHai is a fusion sushi lounge that promises to serve the best in Japanese cuisine. And make good on that promise, they sure did!

Welcome to 81 SeiHai! Say hi, will ‘ya?

Now, because this was a press event, a mini-program, complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, was held while guests – ranging from government officials to celebrities, even to bloggers – were treated to some of the dishes in its up-and-coming menu!

Not only that, top-notch entertainment was also provided by impersonator/actor Jon Santos, The Voice Philippines Season 1 Grand Champion Mitoy Yonting, singer Jed Madela, and YouTube artist Aisaku Yokogawa, all for everyone’s enjoyment.

Of course, the day would not be complete without the centerpiece of the event: the food! Here are some of their offerings:




The flavor of the 5-piece gyoza was so crisp and flavorful, the right amount of salt just made it delectably savory!

Ebi Tempura

The ebi tempura did not taste sketchy at all; in fact, the batter used for its breading evened out the taste of the shrimp, taking away any chances of getting that ‘suya’ feeling; all in all, perfectly cooked.

Salmon Sashimi

Their salmon sashimi were cut into thick slices (and I love this!), and this means more flavor to enjoy!

Calamari Salad

This one comes as a surprise: the calamari they used in their calamari salad has this uniquely pleasant after-taste that lingers in your tongue; its breading, neither too think nor too thin, has such a firm consistency.



Chicken Teriyaki

The chicken teriyaki was grilled to perfection, it was the perfect kind of dry.  Its level of saltiness: absolutely pleasant to one’s palette.

Pork Tonkatsu

The pork tonkatsu was evenly-sliced. It was firm, but wasn’t hard to chew at all. The amount of sauce that they put on top of the meat was the right amount, further augmenting the savory flavor it possesses.


Apple Mint Cooler and Banana Smoothie

The apple mint cooler has the perfect balance of sweet AND sour; the presence of mint leaves give it a cool, refreshing taste, something you’ll definitely notice as it hits your tongue. As for the banana smoothie, it’s as fruity as can be, and the tropical kick you’ll get out of it is something that will leave you wanting more.
